I think instead of just blocking off the items you don’t want with the trapdoors, you should just change the route so it leads to lava if the switch is flipped, so you don’t lag any more than necessary for things you don’t want…

exept if the mob spawningpads are just 2 high so the 3 blocks tall mobs wont even start spawning^^

I’m pretty sure most hostile mobs can climb ladders. Creepers and slimes can(and there the ones without limbs! ._.), but I’m not sure about zombies and skeletons. No mobs deliberately pathfind up them though, so you should be safe.
